Riana Development Network (RDN) was shortlisted for 2 categories at the Young Ealing Foundation Awards, taking home one of the awards!
Held at the old Odeon cinema in Northfields on the 19th of September. Young Ealing Foundation (YEF) brought together the community of Ealing to recognise the work of each respective charity within Ealing. RDN were shortlisted for two awards: Education Project of the Year and Youth Professional of the Year.
The event was hosted by YEF Champion Emily Blunder and JoJo Silva, Capital XTRA presenter. There were 15 awards presented that night, each presented by a notable member of the community. With six brilliant performances alongside the presentation of awards.
Our CEO, Rodgers Orero, was nominated for Youth Professional of the Year, although he didn’t take home the award. He was grateful for the nomination and was happy for the eventual winner, Rahma Guled Elmi.
From his experience of working with Rahma, as soon as her name was announced, he said, “She deserves it, I've worked with her in the past, and she's brilliant."
RDN did win the Education Project of the Year award, owing to Jenny Bains initiative in launching financial courses that teach young people how to budget and make wise financial decisions.
MP Deirdre Costigan, before announcing the winner, had this to say: “Education is more than what happens in school; it’s about giving everyone the tools, opportunities, and support they need to thrive in everything they do, no matter what their background is.”
RDN wants to thank YEF for hosting such an amazing event, although Will Poulter couldn't make it. It was fantastic to see his acknowledgement for this event, as it demonstrates how far YEF has grown since 2018 and the incredible job they are doing.
